Acceleration mechanics in sprints/hurdles: Looking at the 7 v 8 step approach to the first hurdle. Coach Badon will look at general accelerative biomechanical dynamics, look at those dynamics are adapted to hurdling, and then look at the 7 v 8 step acceleration models to the first hurdle.

Coach Thomas Badon started coaching in 1981 at the high school level and in his 41-year career has coached at all levels of the sport. He has coached championship teams at the high school, junior college, and NCAA Division I levels. He has produced multiple individual state champions in high school, 26 NCAA All-Americans, and Olympians Hollis Conway (U.S.), Twilet Malcolm (Jamaica), Ben Koech (Kenya) and Ndabe Mdhlongwa (Zimbabwe). Since 1991, Badon has served as a lead instructor in the U.S.'s coaching certification programs. From 1991-2008 he served as a sprints/hurdles/relays Level II instructor for USATF, and since 2009 has been a lead instructor in the USTFCCCA Coaching Ed program in those same event areas. He is a Level II certified instructor in both the sprints and jumps and is a featured presenter at clinics throughout the United States. Coach Badon is married with three adult children.
